Buffalo Bills Cut Quarterback Vince Young
Brace Hemmelgarn-US PRESSWIRE

Remember when Vince Young was going to be a superstar?  Those were the days.  Life was simple and I really didn’t have a care in the world.  We now live in a world where he is getting cut because the Buffalo Bills managed to pull off a trade for Tarvaris Jackson.  Bet you never saw that coming.

"I want to thank the Bills organization for the opportunity and wish the organization and my teammates good luck this season".

Vince Young

It is kind of strange to live in a world where athletes are telling us about getting cut online, but I guess it works.  The writing was on the wall the second that the Bills picked up Jackson in a trade.  There is simply no more room for Vince Young in Buffalo.  In fact, there might not be much room for Vince anywhere these days.

You simply cannot be a quarterback and solely rely on athleticism.  At some point, you have to be able to make the throws and the smart decisions.  Young has never shown that he can do that consistently.  He has talent but I am not sure if anyone is ever going to be able to tap into it.

Young will probably land on a team later in the season, simply due to depth reasons.  There will be a coach out there that thinks his team can make Young into a threat.  Good luck with that.  He has not shown that he can be a starting quarterback and he has had plenty of chances.

This happens to look like another cautionary tale.  He was a great college player but he could never quite make it in the pros.  For all of the great memories that Vince Young gave us as a phenomenal college quarterback, it is fairly safe to call him a pro bust.  I would have never guessed it coming out of college, but it’s funny how things work out.
