Beltran Trade Kicking San Francisco Giants In the Rear

When Carlos Beltran was traded from the New York Mets to the defending San Francisco Giants- I scoffed…immediately. Especially when I heard the Giants give up top pitching prospect Zach Wheeler. It apparently looks like everyone who scoffed- is correct.

The injury prone Beltran has missed multiple games in a row with a wrist injury and the Giants are finally now looking at sending him to the DL. Well what a surprise. A guy whose been hurt for the better part of 3 years- is hurt again. Worth your top prospect? Hardly.

It was a bad deal the second it went through, and now this is putting the nail in that coffin. You don’t trade your top prospect for a 2 month rental guy. If Tim Linececum leaves the bay area- and Zach Wheeler is as good as everyone is predicting for the Mets…this trade could go down as one of the worst in Giants history. Yikes.

Your wrong. Zach wheeler is a what-if pitchers. What if he’s a star pitcher. What if he’s a Kerry wood, what if he just sucks. Who cares. Deals done. He could be valueble. I think just the stank of the giants offense is rubbing off on him. There’s plenty of season left. They will turn it on. And so will Beltran to bring a repeat to the giants. Only 3.5 games back. Without. Posey, Sanchez, pandas time off stint, kepp, Nate, romo, Wilson. And now Beltran. There going to pull off west. Mark my words!!!

How can I be wrong? You don’t trade your best pitching prospect for a 2 month rental, banged up outfielder that has a knack of getting healthy. Whether or not Zach Wheeler is as good as I think he’s gonna be…completely irrelevant. He’s their number 1 prospect- and they traded him for Carlos Beltran. That IS a bad move. Seeing as well- Beltran is banged up- and has hit like garbage since coming over.

There is plenty of season left like you said. The Giants have battled their fair share of injuries- playing in a weak division is always nice…and it shows how good of a manager Bruce Bochy is. I’m pulling for the Giants to win that division because I can’t stand the dbacks- and I’m a big Tiny Tim fan. Not to mention your park is gorgeous.

Ok I’ll conced a little. Was Beltran the best choice? Maybe not. Would pence or upton been a better choice? Maybe but the giants love the classic players. ie. Edgar, uribe, dunston, gallaraga, we love em. And they worked. I think Beltran will come around. Once he gets healthy. And yeah backs are bunk. Main reason. Played against nady in high school. Can’t stand the guy. Complete tool. And big ego when I see him back in town. Love your post. Keep it up. Thanks

I appreciate the kind words, and the feedback.

I was against the Giants trading for Beltran in the beginning. In my opinion, trading your best prospect should get you a real good player for multiple years.

Sometimes the best trade is the one you don’t make.
