As Fritz Shurmur said “”final cuts are never final.” Today the Seahawks continued to make cuts to shape the 53 man roster. Seattle announced the additions of Landon Cohen (defensive tackle), Jarriel King (offensive tackle), Steven Hauschka (place kicker) and Al Woods (defensive tackle) via waivers. To make room Seattle released Jeff Reed (kicker), Junior Siavii (defensive tackle), Pep Levingston (defensive end/tackle) and Dave Vobora (linebacker).

Seattle also announced the signings of Jameson Konz (linebacker), Josh Pinkard (safety), Brent Osborne (guard), Ricardo Lockette (wide receiver), Maurice Fountain (defensive end) and Owen Spencer (wide receiver) to the practice squad. Pep Levingston will be added to the practice squad so long as he clears waivers.

Woods, a fourth-round pick in 2010 by New Orleans joins his former defensive line coach Todd Wash in Seattle. Both Wash and Woods were together in Tampa last season. King, a rookie undrafted free agent out of South Carolina will add solid depth to an improving offensive line.

Hauschka, 26, will handle the kicking duties in Seattle after Jeff Reed failed to impress in Seattle. A young but well traveled veteran Hauschka came into the NFL as an undrafted free agent signing by Minnesota in 2008. Since coming into the league he’s been with Minnesota (2008), Baltimore (2008-2009), Atlanta (2009), Detroit (2010), Las Vegas (UFL 2010), Denver (2010) and now Seattle (2011).

Cohen, 25, was one of five Patriots to be claimed Sunday and will replace Junior Siavii on the defensive line mainly for depth and rotation.

Seattle has now made 35 roster moves the past 24 hours. Expect a few more moves to be made before their week one game in San Francisco.

Report: Non-Seahawks news Colts quarterback Peyton Manning will be placed on injured reserve and will have his third neck surgery. He is expected to miss 10-12 weeks so the Colts will place Manning on IR effectively ending his season.
