The football recruiting game is a brutal one.

Coaches always look for ways to one-up each other in an effort to gain the smallest edge.

When a recruit receives multiple letters from a school in a week’s time, they can rest assured the school is interested in their services.

When a recruit receives 105 letters on the same day, from the same school, things are getting excessive.

This was the fate of Alabama Crimson Tide recruit Alvin Kamara, who received 105 letters on the same day from the program’s recruiting coordinator and assistant coaches.

Kamara told Rivals.com that he threw all of these in a shoebox and didn’t bother with a read of each, that the number of letters said what it needed to say:

I counted! And I took pictures. I was shocked. I didn’t expect there to be that many in the mailbox. When I opened it, it was overflowing and some of them fell out.

It’s hard to say if this was simply an oversight by the Alabama coaching staff, or, if it was intentional and they were in an effort to drive home a point.

If it was an oversight, fair enough.

If a point was to be made, it was made, and then some.

Careful with the Tide, Alvin Kamara, seems like their interest borders on obsession.
