Got back ache? Worried that the legs just don’t have it anymore? Scared that everyone looks younger? Fear not, there is proof out there that age is just a number!

A few weeks ago we brought you an astounding clip of Enzo Francescoli scoring an overhead kick at the ripe old age of 50. The Uruguayan legend was said to be the inspiration for Zinedine Zidane, and with his technical brilliance still on display it was a wonder that more soccer fans didn’t admit to naming their children after him.

This could have been written off as one hero simply rolling back the years for a special occasion. However, two days ago, two former greats also puffed out their chests and showed the kids what was what.

Check these two clips out:

…and…

The first is Manchester City assistant coach David Platt pulling off a gorgeous bicycle kick during a game of 5-a-side in Malaysia. The 46 year-old played for England, Aston Villa, Arsenal, Juventus, and Sampdoria. He is no stranger to flair, and always knew where the goal was. He still has it.

The second clip is of 40 year-old Rivaldo. In the last year he has been playing on and off for Kabuscorp, in Angola. In only seven games he has managed to rattle off eight goals. With this hat trick the Brazilian –who once talked of his fox like cunning –displayed deftness and will that trumps any youngster’s legs.

If you are worried about getting on a bit: don’t. Follow these former greats’ examples, or just live vicariously through them. Either way, youth isn’t all that…
