According to emerging reports from Spain, Gareth Bale is keen on a move to Real Madrid and is looking to move in this summer transfer window.

Although there are no quotes, MARCA, a respected pro-Real Madrid newspaper, are insisting Bale wants the move. If the reports are accurate, then there is a great chance the Welshman will be playing for Real Madrid next season.

Andre Villas-Boas, the Tottenham head coach, recently said chairman Daniel Levy had ‘pledged’ Gareth Bale would not be sold at any price.

Of course, if Bale were to express his true desire in media, or even by a statement, a much clearer picture would emerge. It’s going to be very difficult for Spurs to hold onto Bale if he actively admits he’s seeking a move, and there would be no chance the North London club would retain his services for more than a year.

Real Madrid needs a star player like Bale after witnessing their fierce rivals Barcelona invest heavily in Brazilian superstar Neymar. One things for certain, a star name will be arriving in Madrid, that’s for sure.

With highly-rated midfield man Isco now seemingly in Real Madrid’s books, they seem to be rebuilding, something which is not superfluous in preparation for the inevitable arrival of Carlo Ancelotti.

Tottenham on the other hand, would be devastated by the departure of Bale, but the mooted world record fee might soften the blow significantly.

I think Spurs are actually in a strong position. If Bale goes, they have a lot of money to re-invest. If he stays, they have one of the world’s best players. Lots of teams would love to be in Tottenham’s position if they could.
