Besiktas, Slaven Bilic and Felipe Melo all received their punishments after last Sunday’s Turkish Super League derby match between BJK and Galatasaray. Some were deserved, while others got away with literally nothing.

Anyways, here is what happened:

The visitors were up 2-1 with less than a minute of added time remaining when Melo slid straight through Ramon Motta near his own area. Melo was immediately ejected when the two teams almost went at it. Then, the teams were guided off the field as the fans jumped onto the field to start a riot against the police.

This rivalry was nowhere near as heated as the one between Gala and Fenerbahce, but after this game, it is safe to say that BJK will be taken extremely seriously in both home and away matches. This is not just because of the roster itself, but due to the fans who are the most die-hard bunch in all of Turkey.

Slaven Bilic has been given a three-match ban from the touch-line after his actions and comments, whereas Besiktas will have to play behind closed doors for the next four home matches. Both bans will hurt the players as they rely heavily on both parties.

At the other end, Melo will be banned for only two games for his tough tackle on Motta. The punishment is definitely deserved, but Motta himself is also a culprit for hitting Sabri Sarioglu at the other end and getting away with it.

This was a game that may have still not been awarded to Gala as they were up 2-1 with seconds remaining before the fans jumped on the field after Melo’s tackle. If this game is replayed, that means that Besiktas will still remain undefeated at 4-0… But surely in due time Gala will be awarded the win as the match was abandoned in the ending seconds.
