Permanently Signing Fernando Torres Is A Bad Idea For AC Milan

AC Milan have struggled in the Serie A for the past two seasons. The Rossoneri need a striker who can score goals. Fernando Torres has been in Milan since the beginning of the season and has featured for the club 10 times, but has only scored a single goal. Milan do not need a striker who does not score on their accounts.

Torres was once one of the most prolific scorers in European soccer. El Nino’s rise to prominence at Atletico Madrid and brilliance at Liverpool is still remembered by fans around the world. However, Torres has not been able to reach double digits in goals since the 2010 season.

Milan’s move for Torres would make sense if the Spaniard still had the majority of his career to play out, but unfortunately, the Atletico Madrid youth product will be turning 31 in March.

Although a final sum to make the deal permanent with Chelsea has not been reported, the money will better suit AC Milan if they looked to sign a younger striker with potential than to waste their time with Torres.

Milan are currently sitting outside of UEFA Champions League qualification and 14 points behind league leading Juventus.

It has been reported that Torres will make his loan move to AC Milan permanent. Torres has been on loan in Milan since the beginning of the 2014-15 season from Chelsea, and the Stamford Bridge side paid a staggering $62 million to sign a struggling Torres during the January transfer window of the 2010-11 season.
