Tampa Bay Buccaneers Release Tanard Jackson In A Smart Move
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released safety Tanard Jackson after he failed a physical, Rant Sports has learned. Jackson had 10 interceptions in 56 games with the Tampa Bay Bucs, but will now have to find work somewhere else. In 2011, Jackson had 35 tackles and two interceptions, but was frequently injured.
The Bucs will now likely look to the draft for a safety after this logical move. Tanard Jackson was hurt often, and he did have legal troubles that forced him to miss plenty of time. He recently underwent surgery and was expected to be back with the team. However, he recently failed a physical and the team decided it was time to let him go. In 2011, he was suspended for the first five weeks for violations of the league’s substance abuse policy. This came after he missed all of 2010 for the same reason.
At times, Jackson was out of place on the field, and he really struggled against the run last season. Tanard Jackson was presumably out of shape most of last season, and the Buccaneers now gave up on him. However, Jackson is still only 26 so he will find work somewhere. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had their problems in 2010 and 2011 under Raheem Morris. Many players were getting in trouble with the law. That included Aqib Talib and Tanard Jackson. It appears the new regime in Tampa doesn’t tolerate too many off-the-field problems, and Greg Schiano is still awaiting Aqib Talib’s trial.
