After a week of Camp Schiano, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will hold an intrasquad game on Saturday night at Raymond James Stadium. But for now, here’s the latest from One Buccaneer Place.

Injuries:

First-round pick Mark Barron (toe) returned to practice, but was limited. The Buccaneers aren’t going to risk further injury by rushing him. Barron mostly participated in individual drills, such as loose ball recovery drills. “I’m just doing what I can, you know, I had a little minor toe issue,” Barron said. “It’s getting better every day, I just gotta take my time with it.”

Barron’s partner in the secondary, Ronde Barber, returned to practice on Friday after having Thursday off. Barber wasn’t limited in any major way, and continues to have a solid camp. Barber is not injured, according to head coach Greg Schiano, and was just given the day off on Thursday.

Newly acquired cornerback Eric Wright left practice early due to back tightness. Wright, so far, has not impressed in the first week of practice, and now, the Buccaneers are being careful with his sore back.

Carl Nicks has had a great camp so far and has been as good as advertised. Nicks left Friday’s practice early because of heat exhaustion. At least, Schiano believed it was heat exhaustion, but said he wasn’t exactly sure.

No other injuries were apparent on Friday.

Things to Know

Dan Orlovsky, who was acquired via free agency, has been getting plenty of repetitions behind Josh Freeman. From that, it can be assumed that the Buccaneers might only carry two quarterbacks.

Vincent Jackson had a solid practice on Friday, and continues to build chemistry with Freeman. Jackson has been the best receiver by far, but the group as a whole has practiced well in the first week.

If there’s one caveat to the first week of camp, it would have to be penalties. Flags were aplenty on Friday, which has led many to believe that Schiano has wound the team up too tight. Penalties will have to be reduced in order for the offense to maximize its potential.

The Night Practice at Raymond James Stadium will start at 6:30 PM on Saturday. It will be a great opportunity for fans to get a closer look at the team.
