The Toronto Maple Leafs has sent gritty Colby Armstrong to the IR after sustaining a left ankle sprain during the first period of the Winnipeg Jets, Maple Leafs game at the Air Canada Center on Wednesday.

This injury has come just about 1 year near Armstrong’s finger injury that was sustained early last season, which had him out of 32 games.

As a result of Armstrong being sent up, the Maple Leafs have called up Nazem Kadri from the Toronto Marlies. Now this is the obvious player to be calling up from the Marlies, but I do wish Kadri would of played a couple games down in the AHL. I think he needs this in order for him to back into game shape, after coming off his pre-season injury. But Kadri has indeed been called up and will likely be playing on the 3rd line. Although I do expect his minutes to be limited for his first game or two.

Last season Armstrong finished with 23 points in 50 games.
