Kesler’s Shootout Goal helps Canucks down Coyotes

The Vancouver Canucks have defeated the Phoenix Coyotes 2-1 in a shootout. David Booth scored the first goal of the game in the 2nd period. Ryan Kesler and Aaron Rome would get the assists on the goal. In the 3rd period, Keith Yandle tied the game at 1 with an unassisted goal. In the shootout, it went 6 rounds. Cody Hodgson, David Booth and Alex Edler scored for the Canucks. For the Coyotes, Ray Whitney, Gilbert Brule and Mikkel Boedker scored. Ryan Kesler would score the winner in the shootout since Boyd Gordon was stopped by Roberto Luongo. The Coyotes outshot the Canucks 24-22. The Canucks snapped the Coyotes 5 game winning streak. The Canucks have played more than 60 minutes in a game 8 times in the last 10 games. The Canucks move within 2 points of the Detroit Red Wings for the top spot in the Western Conference with a game in hand. For the Coyotes, they’re 3 points ahead of Calgary and Colorado for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
