Will Muschamp vs. Urban Meyer: College Football Coaches Have War of Words

It’s no mystery, college football is all about recruiting. So, when top-notch schools like the Florida Gators or the Ohio State Buckeyes get canned for courting recruits in an illegal manner, no one can be that shocked. However, when a war of words between those same schools ensues over improper recruiting, then I just can’t stop laughing.

Urban Meyer started all this by snitching on the Gators’ head coach Will Muschamp, who took Meyer’s job after he infamously “retired” from the school in 2010. Apparently, the former-Florida coach saw the current Gators coaches going about things the wrong way and had to speak up about it. Muschamp didn’t care for Meyer’s nosiness and sent a shot that could be felt by Meyer all the way from the Peach State:

“In both (alleged NCAA) situations, we were turned in by Ohio.”

Just in case you forgot, the school that Muschamp is taking about isn’t the Ohio Bobcats – it’s the Ohio State Buckeyes. College Football coaches are politicians in every sense of the word, so it was just a matter of time before the Gators found a way to spin their issues back onto Meyer and his crew. Here’s the Muschamp attack on Meyer that has everyone talking:

“They (OSU) certainly know a thing or two about it.”

Of course, the “they” in this situation is Ohio State and Muschamp is right about its rather murky past. Sigh — this is just another prime example of college coaches running around with a “holier than now” attitude, despite the skeletons in their own closets.
