2013 Fantasy Football Profile: Danny Woodhead Still a Sleeper Candidate?

Name: Danny Woodhead

Team: San Diego Chargers

Position: Running Back

Years Pro: 4

Draft stock: (Stagnant) Many fantasy football owners don’t even know that Woodhead left Tom Brady in the rear-view mirror. However, some folks have Woodhead circled on their draft board simply because Ryan Matthews is so fragile. Either way, Woodhead’s draft stock remains rather stagnant.

2012 fantasy impact: The 5-foot-9 Woodhead made his way to the end zone a shocking seven times in 2012! In addition, the third-string running back piled up 747 yards from scrimmage in Bill Belichick‘s offense. Once again, Woodhead ranked as one of the top pass-catching running backs in the NFL.

Best-case scenario: Woodhead emerges a the No. 1 running back in San Diego as Matthews’ season is lost to injures yet again. The Chargers offer Woodhead to be an every-down back and he succeeds in the new-found role.

Worst-case scenario: It becomes obvious that Brady made Woodhead famous and the ladder can’t perform outside of Foxborough. Chargers fans grow tired of Woodhead’s inconsistent ways and the journeyman lands on the bench.

Where you should draft him: Predicting where Woodhead will go in your fantasy draft is near impossible, but expect him go off of the board around the 10th round.
