Chris Davis, Miguel Cabrera Have Great Chance At Making MLB History in 2013

Remember in the 1990s when MLB was captivated by the Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa home run battle? Yeah — baseball fans are being treated with another home run clash and this time it doesn’t involve an ounce of steroids…or so we think.

If everyone loves the long ball, then both Miggy and Crash should be getting plenty of fanfare from MLB fans across the country. Davis currently holds the home run crown with 44 bombs, but Cabrera is a close second as he smashed his 39th home run over the weekend. While the Baltimore Orioles‘ faithful have grown accustomed to seeing Davis go yard, it’s the Detroit Tigers‘ fan base who is anxious to see Miggy pass Davis in the home run lead.

You see, if Cabrera can keep his current lead in batting average and RBI then he only needs to notch five more home runs than the Orioles’ first baseman from now until the 2013 MLB regular season comes to a close in order to win a second straight Triple Crown Award. In case you were wondering, no player in the history of the game has won back-to-back Triple Crowns, so the chance at history has Detroit fans on the edge of their seats.

Keep an eye on Miggy and Crash as they continue to nail baseballs out of the park on a daily basis, because this home run chase has Triple Crown implications.
