New Orleans Saints Look Like NFL’s No. 1 Team

The NFC South isn’t going to be won in September, but after just one week the New Orleans Saints appear to be the team to beat here in 2013.

Without head coach Sean Payton on the sideline, New Orleans was seen by many as a team you could walk right over in 2012. However, that has obviously changed as the Saints’ entire organization is more ready than ever to get back into the postseason and beyond. If Week 1′s victory over the Atlanta Falcons is any indication, the Saints might be primed to take home their second Lombardi Trophy in just four years.

Too high of praise? Maybe. Maybe not.

Even still, Drew Brees and company know exactly what it takes to play on Super Sunday and that can’t be overlooked. The Saints’ experience on both sides of the ball showed on Sunday as the youthful Falcons blew a 10-point lead and were simply swallowed up by the Saints’ major home-field advantage. Keep in mind that the Falcons started last season on a 8-0 tear, and were finally uprooted by the Saints in Week 10.

With offensive weapons like Steven Jackson, Julio Jones and Tony Gonzalez, you can imagine that Saints fans have grown accustomed to the supposed NFL pundits hyping up the Falcons like crazy. With that being said, if Brees can throw for 357 yards and get big-time victories like he did on Sunday, then New Orleans will once again become everyone’s favorite team.
