Jonathan Martin Fiasco Grows; Dolphins Should Fire Joe Philbin Immediately

The Miami Dolphins are currently in the hunt for a playoff position this postseason with a 4-4 record, but the Dolphins’ off-the-field issues are starting to pile up. This week, Miami was in the news for second-year offensive lineman Jonathan Martin leaving Dolphins’ facilities after being bulled by a few of the team’s supposed “veteran leaders.” Some may say the “bullies” in this situation should be blamed, but my cross-hairs are pointed in a totally different direction.

Joe Philbin has served as the Dolphins’ head coach for each of the last two seasons, which means he has seen firsthand the trials and tribulations that Martin has been forced to deal with. Similar to Greg Schiano of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers; Philbin appears to have too bite off more than he can chew and obviously doesn’t have the skills to manage a 53-man roster full of personalities.

Some can point the finger at Richie Incognito for reportedly harassing Martin over the years, yet the Dolphins’ locker room should be in the hands of Philbin, who clearly hasn’t done his job in keeping the ‘Phins facility a safe place. In the meantime, Martin remains away from his team as Philbin’s hot seat continues to rise in temperature.
