Connor Shaw Has Career Day; Gamecocks Eye SEC Championship

The South Carolina Gamecocks were left for dead by College Football pundits when they were downed by the hapless Tennessee Volunteers in Week 8.

However, those same pundits are eating crow nowadays as the Gamecocks haven’t lost since that Saturday in Knoxville. South Carolina steamrolled the Mississippi State Bulldogsin Week 10 as Connor Shaw showed us exactly why he’s one of the top quarterbacks in the SEC. Shaw was electric versus the Bulldogs as he enjoyed a four-touchdown afternoon. Any good quarterback needs a decent running back to truly be great, and that’s exactly what Mike Davis brings to the table — Davis leads the SEC in rushing and has rushed for at least 100 yards in eight straight games!

A double-overtime victory over the Missouri Tigers in Week 9 was huge for Steve Spurrier‘s bunch as this group finally has some confidence heading into the final stretch of the season. Don’t look now, but the Gamecocks are nipping on the Tigers’ heels in the SEC East, which means South Carolina could be playing in the SEC Championship Game later this year.
