Nebraska Nips Michigan; Big 10 Race Is Shaping Up Nicely

The Nebraska Cornhuskers appeared to be dead in the water, but a game-winning “Hail Mary” touchdown catch for Jordan Westerkamp has changed their season around. After a nail-biting win over the Northwestern Wildcats, Nebraska headed into Week 11 with their Big Ten Championship hopes on the line. The Cornhuskers trekked to Michigan Wolverines on Saturday to face a Brady Hoke-led team that hadn’t lost at home during his tenure — key word being: hadn’t.

Hoke’s bunch was upended in front of the Wolverines’ hometown crowd as the Cornhuskers rallied back for yet another come-from-behind victory. At 7-2, Nebraska fans are starting to prepare themselves for a Big 10 Championship bout with the Ohio State Buckeyes, a program that has all but guaranteed itself the top spot in the Leaders division.

However, the path to the championship isn’t as easy for the Cornhuskers. Michigan State currently stands atop the Leaders division with a 8-1 overall record and after a week of; the Spartans will head to Lincoln and face a red-hot Nebraska team in Week 12. Nothing is set in stone, but the team that walks away from this battle with a victory in hand will more than likely have punched a ticket to the 2013 Big 10 Championship game. It’s never too early for a preview, and this pending Michigan State-Nebraska contest is one that will be talked about for months on end.
