Cliff Alexander: SMU Becomes the Latest to Offer 2014 Chicago Native

At 6-foot-9, Cliff Alexander has molded himself into one of the top talents in the class of 2014.

Alexander, who currently attends Curie H.S. (IL), picked up an offer from SMU and head coach Larry Brown on Sunday, adding to an extensive list that already includes some of college basketball’s top programs.

Alexander tweeted the latest addition to his collection of offers on Sunday afternoon.

The forward has great mobility, which can make him an ideal fit for many up-tempo offenses. The extent of many coaches in pursuit of Alexander continues to grow, as his ability only adds to the incredible list of talent emerging out of the high school ranks in Chicago.

With the July live period coming to a close, SMU hopped on board with Alexander, but the chase for one of the top prospects in the junior-to-be high school class runs deep.

Alongside SMU, Alexander now holds offers from DePaul, Florida State, Michigan State, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Iowa, Kansas, Louisville, Michigan, Missouri, and Tennessee, among others.

In mid-July, Reggie Rose, who runs the D Rose All-Stars AAU program, told ESPN, “I think Kentucky is one of his dream schools. I’m pretty sure he’s excited. At the same time, when I talk to Cliff, I tell him when Derrick (Rose) was in high school his dream school was North Carolina, and he went to Memphis. It’s about what is your best fit.”

That being said, the time is aplenty for Alexander to make a decision and only time will tell where he will end up.

Alexander is ranked as the No. 4 prospect in the class of 2014 by Rivals  and No. 10 by ESPN Recruiting.
