Jim Calhoun: Expected to Miss 2-3 Months
Jamie Rhodes-US PRESSWIRE

Jim Calhoun has beaten cancer 3 times so it’s unlikely a little bicycle accident is going to force retirement upon him. Just a few days after being in the accident Calhoun underwent surgery Saturday to repair a left hip fracture. While the doctors are said to be very happy with how the procedure went there is some talk of whether or not it will effect Calhoun’s ability to be on the sideline to start the season.

While questioning if he will be able to roam the sidelines for the first tip-off is okay it’s far to early to write Calhoun off yet. Former players have already expressed as much. Former Connecticut Huskies guard and Houston Rockets first rounder Jeremy Lamb,  ”I know he’s going to fight,” Lamb said Saturday. “But I don’t know if it will make him want to coach more or retire more. I just know Coach is a tough guy, a real strong man, and he’s going to do what’s best for him and his family.”

Here is what we know about Calhoun. If you’re in a press conference and ask him a question he doesn’t approve, you better run. If you’re cancer and you’re trying to rampage Calhoun’s body, you better think twice and get out of there. So that leads me to believe that a bicycle accident won’t be the way he is looking to go out. If anyone will come back it will be Calhoun and unfortunately for us it will probably be with even more condensension and vinegar. Look for Calhoun to make quicker recovery than most 70 year olds and get his Hall of Fame coaching rear-end back to the sidelines quicker than most expect.
