Bruins sign Pouliot away from Montreal
For reasons unknown, the Bruins have signed Benoit Pouliot to a reported one-year, $1.1 million contract.
The Bruins will be the left wing’s third NHL team, as Pouliot has previously disappointed the Minnesota Wild, who made him the fourth overall pick in the 2005 draft, and the Montreal Canadiens, who traded Guillaume Latendresse for him midway through the 2009-10 season.
Pouliot does have a bit of a scoring touch, picking up 13 goals and 17 assists in 79 games with the Habs last season, the first year he wasn’t sent back to the AHL for one reason or another.
Pouliot was last seen trying to decapitate Johnny Boychuk in Game 3 of this year’s first-round playoff matchup. He was promptly made a healthy scratch for the final four games of the series.
