Two Bruins prospects have received their first NHL contracts — Jarad Knight and Ryan Spooner — while Stefan Chaput received a one-year contract extension.

Knight, the Bruins second-round pick in 2010, is a highly regarded center in the Bruins system. Knight scored 25 goals in 68 games for the London Knights of the junior OHL, and made a cameo appearance at the end of the season for the P-Bruins.

Spooner, also nabbed in the second round in 2010, made the same three-game appearance in Providence last season, in addition to stints with Kingston Frontenacs and Peterborough Petes of the OHL. Both players made an impact at the recent rookie development camp, and both are hoping to contribute to the parent club in 2011-12. Otherwise, they will be returned to their respective OHL clubs if they don’t crack the Bruins’ roster out of training camp.

Chaput, a 23-year-old center, is expected to spend 2011-12 in Providence and will provide depth at the forward position for the Bruins. Chaput played 27 games in Providence after coming over from the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL.
