“He’s a better shooter than I thought,” Rondo said. “He has KG range, which is saying something. He was very aggressive with the ball.”

The fact is right now the Boston Celtics roster is full of question marks. Will Glen Davis be back? Who will be the guy to spell Jermaine O’Neal to give him the rest that he needs? Can the Celtics get some production off the bench offensively? Judging by Rajon Rondo’s assessment of rookie JaJuan Johnson, the Celtics might just have an option to answer the problems in the rookie.
If Glen Davis does leave, the Celtics will need a backup power forward. They will need a guy that can hit the mid range shot and crash the boards with energy. According to Rondo, Johnson has great range and is aggressive. If he can learn the offense quick with Rondo tutoring him, he could slide right into that role. The beautiful part is that he has more length than Davis and is a natural shot blocker. This means the Celtics defense might get better with the rookie. His length might make him a solid option for minutes at the center spot. Johnson may not have enough width, but if Davis at his height can man the middle for Boston than Johnson should be able to fit into the system. The Celtics needed offense from the bench. They needed a guy that was not afraid to shoot and or look for his offense. If Johnson is aggressive as Rondo says, than unlike Jeff Green passing up wide open shots, JaJaun could be the scorer inside the bench needed.
Granted this is just the ever green tinted view of Rondo, but he has been around Johnson the most. If Rondo likes his game, than Boston should have a guy ready to contribute. This is huge for a team that has a lot of question marks. I just hope we get to find out if Rondo’s assessment was right sooner than later. Remember Go Green or Go Home!!!!!!!!!!!!!
