NBA rumors rarely die and the Boston Celtics President Danny Ainge wanting to add Bucks free agent forward Carlos Delfino to his new mix of players is one of those rumors. These NBA rumors have life for a number of reasons. However, in the end I just do not see this rumor coming to fruition.

The first is the obvious fact Delfino would be a perfect fit for Boston. Boston would like to have a veteran small forward that can both defend and shoot to come off the bench and spell Paul Pierce. Delfino is that guy as he can shoot from the perimeter and play solid defense. Some people knock Delfino’s game, but he is more than a shooter off the bench. Boston head coach Doc Rivers made it clear that he feels the Bucks turned him into a shooter, but Delfino can give a team a lot more. Doc is a fan of Delfino and thus this rumor will have life until Delfino finds a home.

The problem for Boston is they only have the bi level exception worth just under two million to offer Delfino. This paltry offer is not going to get the job done even if Delfino wants to bolt from the Bucks to play for a contender because the man can get much better offers. The Celtics also do not have a lot of chips to deal having dealt most of their expendable pieces to Houston for Courtney Lee so a sign and trade is not happening for Boston to land him.
