US PRESSWIRE

Alas, I am at my final position. I could have done designated hitter, but considering that is only half the league, I decided not to.

The closer. Baseball's most overrated position. Hell, it might be sports most overrated position. Regardless of what you or I think, the position matters to a lot of teams.

I must warn you now. I couldn't care less about ERA or save percentage for a closer. Why you ask? Well, in a sample size that predominantly is at most three innings a week, numbers tend to be skewed. I remember when John Smoltz first started closing, he had a 7 ER game that completely blew up his ERA for the rest of the season.

This is why I look at FIP, K/9, K:BB, and HR/9 for closers. Because these are all things a closer can control.

So, I bring to you baseball's top 10 closers.

Starting Pitchers
Relievers
Catchers
First Basemen
Second Basemen
Third Basemen
Shortstops
Left Fielders
Center Fielders
Right Fielders
