Former Boston Red Sox, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Philadelphia Phillies ace Curt Shilling has always been a character.

From his strange methods and habits on the mound, to the infamous “bloody sock” incident, Shilling has drawn attention from the first time he stepped onto the rubber in a Major League game.

Now, Shilling has made a splash in a different industry, as his video game company 38 Studios has released “Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning“, a Lord of the Rings-style role-playing game for the Playstation 3.

Curt Shilling’s life-long love for all things video games turned into the development of 38 Studios which launched in 2006 with 11 employees, and now employees 400 in all aspects of game development and production.

It’s a unique career turn for one of baseball’s more unique pitchers, one that never knew the word “no”, and drove himself to be one of the more feared and well-respected hurlers in the game during the 1990s and early 2000s.

If Curt Shilling has his way, 38 Studios will be nipping at the heels of the big boys in the video game markets in no time.

I wouldn’t bet against him, that’s for sure.
