The past few days for Chicago White Sox pitcher Philip Humber have been quite the whirlwind. On Saturday, Philip Humber tossed the 21st perfect game in Major League Baseball history against the woeful Seattle Mariners. Although it ended in controversial fashion, Philip Humber is apart of a very exclusive club – the perfect game club. Considering Humber is a happily married man with a baby on the way, he might not want a piece of Kate Upton like all of us do. But delivering David Letterman’s Top 10 list about the perfect game is definietly doable.

With the team on the road in Oakland, Humber gave Dave’s Top 10 via satellite to the New York based crowd. The topic for the list was “What were the thoughts running through Philip Humber’s mind during the perfect game”. Humber did a great job on the list – and for not being a comedian – his delivery was pretty solid for the jokes. It’s clear Philip Humber doesn’t buckle under the pressure, unlike Ray Finkle.

For being a former Ball State student – where Letterman went to college – you would think I would watch Late Night occasionally; however, this is the first time I watched Letterman in probably ten years. I just don’t find him funny at all. Comical preface is a lot like musical preface: there’s no right or wrong, it’s all a matter of specific taste.

Being a White Sox fan, I’m still in a perfect game hangover. It’s so hard to believe it even happened, especially Philip Humber accomplishing the feat. For almost being out of baseball a few years ago – to getting one more chance with the White Sox – to throwing the 21st perfect game in Major League Baseball history, Philip Humber’s story is a tale that we all love to hear about in the game of baseball.

Philip Humber’s next start will be at home against the Boston Red Sox, where he looks to make history and throw two perfect games!
