I really wanted to feel good about the Detroit Lions this year, I really did. I know their a division rival but it would be a good story for a franchise that hasn’t won on a very long time.

Then I went to Detroit for that Monday night game with the Bears. Everything changed that night. I was even a great sport. Before the game Barry Sanders was the Lions honorary captain. You’re damn right I stood up and gave him an ovation. I also honored long-time Lions kicker Jason Hansen when he set the NFL record for most-games played by any player. That’s where my respect for this organization ended. I was there with my wife and we were treated like crap. On top of the jawing by most of the Lions fans, we were sworn at, had items thrown at us and threatened. To put this in perspective; I was in Green Bay for the Bears game that meant a hell of a lot more in early January and the fans there are awesome. We had a little fun, but respected the hell out of our devotion to our respective teams. The Lions fans just talk trash with little to back it up.

If finally dawned on me that this whole Lions persona comes from the top with coach Jim Schwartz. The Bears dominated the Lions yesterday. They absolutely beat the pulp out of that team for four quarters. The Lions were taking cheap-shots and intentionally trying to injure Bears players all-afternoon long. When asked about it in his post-game press conference, he actually complained about the calls. Complained about the calls? His players are dirty, cheap and thugs. Ndamukong Suh is the worst of this group. He’s a piece of crap. I think I’ve found a player more overrated than Clay Matthews III. All Suh does is pile-on tackles and try to injure players along with rest of the Pussy Cats I mean Lions. It’s not playing hard like they try to preach; it’s playing dirty. Have you ever seen Julius Peppers try to injure another player? Why don’t you go to the league office again with your whiny coach Suh?

The biggest turd yesterday was Matthew Stafford. After a clean block by DJ Moore, Stafford grabbed him by the helmet and flung him forward. This could have injured Moore. As anyone should have done, Moore retaliated and was ejected. When asked about it after the game, Schwartz recreated the truth. Even Lovie Smith called out Moore a bit, but Schwartz felt that the Stafford situation was unprovoked. Is he high?

I’ve always grown up hating the Green Bay Packers. One reason was the dirty play witnessed under former head coach Forrest Gregg. That was obviously a long time ago and the organization has moved past that style of play. I still hate them but respect them. I now hate the Lions and will never respect those jerkoffs. Thanksgiving day may present some rooting challenges.

21 Rants to “Screw you Jim Schwartz & The Detroit Lions”

  1. Eric Zalewski says:

Obviously you werent watching the same game I was where peppers damn near took johnsons head offin detroits first fumble. I think what we really need to do is throw skirts on all nfl football players and fans like you and let you play this so called football I’m so tired of trash talk let the guys play they all respect one another on the field I’m a tampa fan I like the way the lions play I dont think they play dirty at all its people like you and articles like this thas ruining football.,

    • Chicago Bear Jew says:

Do me a favor Eric, please don’t read my blog anymore. It is way above anything you’re able to comprehend. I can’t even dignify any of this crap with a response.

      • Chicago Bear Jew says:

Really? Because someone calls out Peppers for actually trying to injure a player you are whining now? Do me a favor sir and stop writing.

        • Chicago Bear Jew says:

You’re free to read another blog. Obviously you missed the part when he said this is the old style of football. I could give two shits what you think of my writing.

          • Chicago Bear Jew says:

Obviously since you show no real qualities of an actual sports writer. I love how if someone points something out that is true you totally disregard it and act like you are the end all be all. I was at the game yesterday and I can tell you that the Chicago fans were rude to me, so I am sorry to tell you but your fans are classless and so is the author of this article. Thank you for your time and stay classy…

          • Chicago Bear Jew says:

I’m not a Sportswriter I’m a Blogger. And thanks for reading. See you at the draft

  2. Jim says:

I just ran across your site this morning. I am so glad I found it. I was talking earlier (pre-season) about how good it would be for Detroit to have a good football team, but not like this. You hit it right on the nose with Greenbay, I was too young to witness anyhing about Gregg, but I know my history, doesn’t help that my wife is a Packers fan. Somethings I wish people would talk about (in relation to the game)
    1. The gumption of Stafford. For the a guy that has had some serious injuries early in his career, he really gambled Detroits future with the Moore shot.

2.Can we talk about Schawrtz’s jerkface? Man that guy has a face my fist would love… he whines and whines like the league owes him and Detroit something for them sucking all those years.

    3. I have never heard anyone tell someone not to read their blog, good stuff man good stuff.

  3. Gene says:

CBJ – I recently discovered your site and voiced an opinion about a blog you did regarding Forte and his contract situation. We didn’t agree on that particular blog but I totally agree with you on this one. Detroit is a flat out dirty team and their coach is showing he has no problem with them playing like that. Parts of me wish the Bears would bring Olin back so that he could relive some of his “jaw breaking” days on Suh. I’m just glad that for every dirty hit Detroit had the Bears hit back HARDER!! BTW – that hit Briggs had on Johnson was clean and shouldn’t have drawn a flag nor should he receive a fine! ALL Detroit players should look at that hit so they can see there’s difference between being a dirty player and being an intimidating/hard hitting player. As the other reader said I too have never heard anyone telling someone not to read their blog LOL!

    • Chicago Bear Jew says:

I totally agree on Briggs. It was clean. That was a refs response for losing control of things. As far as me banning people, my blog is for rational people only. I don’t mind people disagreeing but don’t ever defend dirty play.

  4. Rae Shue says:

I agree. I think that because the Lions are winning now, their fans think they can start acting tough. Most of them don’t know what it’s like to root for a real team…much less a winning team.

I respect Barry Sanders, and how classy of you to honor him and Hansen. Even I cheered for both.

I respectfully disagree about Suh (I agree he is a very dirty player and he does need to be fined for ripping Cutler’s helmet off) because I like how he plays the game. Overrated? Ok. I can see where you can see it. I just like the kid (and Nick Fairly as well, though his tackle of Cutler brought back horrible memories of Charles Martin taking McMahon out in 86. Thankfully, Cutty got up).

Jim Schwartz is a punk coach, who couldn’t even handle a well earned loss against the 49ers. He went after Harbaugh – who knows what he said?

Their style of dirty playing is taking away from the year they have had – are they winning because they are that good or because they’re playing that dirty? I often felt that once Stafford returned, the Lions could be a good team. I just didn’t realize what a dirty punk he was.

I was angry that he didn’t get ejected and Moore did, but I loved that the fans were cheering and he was smiling, waving, and high fiving. He knows what he did was wrong, though it was justified.

Maybe I should write my own blog, rather than comment forever on yours! :)

But, you are spot on. Packer fans are classy. They’re rooting for the wrong team, but at least they’re classy. My cousin is a Packers fan and when it went down in the NFC Champ game last year, she congratulated me on my Bears playing hard and hoped that Cutler was okay. She could have very easily rubbed it in, but didn’t.

Sorry for the novel…on to my own blog on yesterday’s game! :)

  5. Paul says:

“Chicago Bear Jew”, I don’t recall the fans at Ford Field chanting “Chicago Sucks.” You seriously will have me believe if I were in attendance yesterday there’d have been no incident? “Recreate the truth”??? Considering you’re a jew, you should know something about Zionism. Not saying all jews are Zionists, but Zionism runs this country…this world. NO ONE recreates a truth more frequently than Zionists. 6 million jews were killed during the Holohoax? Might want to check Red Cross numbers guy, not only were 6 million PEOPLE not killed, but more than just jews were killed in that time period. Wonder why? Check the connection between such and the occupied country of Palestine, you call it Israel, and the connection between the 2. Check Albert Pike’s 3 world wars. Perhaps if you were to crunch letters as much as numbers you could’ve written this article without spelling errors. QUICK, SOMEONE DROPPED A PENNY!!!

  6. Rob says:

After reading a few articles from Bears fans (all of them much like yours) it makes me shake and scratch my head. Here Bears fans are calling the Detroit Lions dirty. What??!! Did you not see the hits put on the Lions by the Bears? I’m not saying that this game was not physical but let’s be honest with ourselves…both teams made some questionable hits and that’s the bottom line. It’s a division game. What did you expect? I also have to comment on the treatment you received in Detroit for the Monday night game….take it for what it is. Chicago fans are not exactly at the head of the welcoming committee. Last June I went to a Tiger/Sox game at Cellular field. When the Tigers beat them with a Cabrera home run, your ever so gracious Sox fans came after us and security had to lead them out of the park and follow us out for our safety. So please, save us the sob story. I will agree with you about Green Bay fans. I live in Madison, Wi. and not one person has had a bad thing to say about the Lions and have only said how they are happy to see them play well. So, kudos to Green Bay enthusiasts. The Bears and the Lions have the same record. Both teams are good. All the trash talk has been done by Bears fans. I love a great rivalry but let’s be adults about it and not act like someone just stole your shovel from the sand box and now that you got it back you want to beat on your own chest at how mighty you are. Chicago played a great game. Detroit did not. Now what we have is an intense fight for a wild card spot. It should be exciting.

    • Chicago Bear Jew says:

Rob, I hate the White Sox so I will agree with how they treat fans. Your points are welcome here, but we will agree to disagree.

  7. Jo says:

I agree with you 100% when it comes to the Loins. not only were they playing dirty, but the game reached a point in which they were also playing highly frustrated and dirty. I’m glad Bears stayed classy and levelheaded…for the most part, but I cheered Moore for not taking shit off Stafford. They dominated the game, proved they were the better team on the field yesterday, and created a cushion that allowed them to pull Peppers, Forte, and Cutler when it became obvious that the Lions seemed to be less focused on how to win and more on how to hurt.

This is easily my favorite Chicago blog, and CBJ, you always call it like it is. Blunt and honest, and unlike some, never a cheap shot.

  8. Matt says:

Wow. I don’t know whether to call out Paul for being an off-topic racist or call out Eric for missing the topic completely. I’ll go with Eric, to be fair the blog.

Dude, Peppers was ferociously stripping the ball. He was clearly not intent on hurting anyone. The difference between that and Suh (among many Detroit players), is that he intentionally tries to hurt them. Did you see the play where they ripped Jay Cutlers helmet off AFTER the ref blew the whistle? Really? Why would you do that? I’ll excuse it in college somewhat because of the emotion of young students playing the game. These people are supposed to be professional athletes. Professional. It’s atrocious to see that kind of crap in a game. I’m just glad the Bears beat the piss out of the Lions.

Oh, and the fans chanting “Detroit Sucks” to pour salt on the wound. Yup, on purpose. They did it because they are fan-ish. Detroit plays dirty because they are fool-ish. Big difference. Fans are not professional athletes paid to play under guidelines, both written and unwritten.

  9. Magcomedian says:

Wow, I contend that all of this started last season in game 1. The Lions have had a bee in their helmet ever since. I think everyone agreed that the Lions won that game. Then this season when the Lions beat the Bears on Monday night they got a little full of their selves.

That being said if my teams cornerback got face planted by a QB I would cry baby too. It’s football, let the refs decide what is dirty and what isn’t! By the way I would much rather have a bad ass QB like Stafford over a quiter like Cutler any day. Oh and remember Stafford is still very, very young.

Urlacher had a pretty shitty hit on Scheffler on Monday night that no one has mentioned. I look forward to a year or two down the road when Urlacher and Briggs are on walkers on the Bears sidelines while Stafford is hanging 400 yards and 3 TD’s on your team. Theirs a reason that Chicago is the windy city and I just realized it. You Blow! Ha Ha! See you in the playoffs where we will see the real Jay Cutler’s sissy ass.
