My good pal Alasdair Lynch (alibud69) has agreed to write another entry for us this week. This, my friends, is his best work…Away we go…

Lies, damn lies and statistics.

I woke up this morning; it felt like Sunday! There was no way that the Bears lost at Soldier to the freaking Chiefs is there?? Well it wasn’t a dream and yes the game really was that bad, but I’m here to set out some home truths from across the pond, thanks to the brilliantly accommodating nature of ChicagoBearJew.

I will break some stuff down but first up that Hail Mary play that kept me up (amongst others) for half the night.  People were screaming Brian Urlacher you fool, damn you Chris Conte burn in Hell, you know what those two guys were doing what they have always been taught to do so my beef isn’t with them, no my real anger was dished out at the time and still is towards Craig Steltz and most of all Corey Graham.

As a quick side note why did the Bears allow that play to even happen? They blew opportunities on 3rd down three times and on 4th down once.  Two of the 3rd downs were of the long yardage that Tyler Palko would have been dreading, if any of these were taken care of then we don’t even have the Hail Mary situation.

Now you guys are probably thinking WTF are you smoking; but here is my argument.   As long as I have been playing sports I have operated on two basic rules, never ball watch, and always play to the whistle.  Now Graham on this play was so busy watching Urlacher and Conte that he failed to secure the space for the ball to drop down into, same with Steltz, it was quite simply bad recognition of the situation that was unfolding, I’m a firm believer in making your own luck, peeps can call it a freak play if they want, I call it a big case of daydreaming.

Now a smidge of credit to offensive coordinator Mike Martz. The Bears were in scoring positions on more than one occasion but failed to execute.  I’m harsh on the execution aspect of the game, and the Bears on my count cheated themselves out of between 13-17 points and that was without the defense or special teams playing especially well, here is my list of blown opportunities:

4 points: Marion Barber lining up on an illegal formation nullifies the TD

3 points: 2nd quarter: (5:06) 12-Caleb Hanie sacked at KC 34 for -9 yards due to the wind takes the Bears out of field goal range; delay of game was taken to allow space for a punt

3 points: Robbie Gould missed field goal, made harder by the 2 sacks on the plays previous that pushed the ball back a collective 16 yards.

3 points/ 7points: Roy Williams and that pick.

A total of 13/17 points this in my eyes at this level is completely unacceptable.

I know I’m British and this isn’t my national sport, but I was under the deluded impression that at Half Time you make adjustments and come out in the second half wiser to the moves the opposition is going to put on you. I mean for gosh sakes even the freaking Indianapolis Colts managed to score 24 points. Yet other than the first drive of the second half, the Bears gave up a sack or a turnover on every single drive they had in the second half, totalling six sacks and three picks.

Now the picks, first one is on Hanie in my humble opinion it was underthrown and behind Knox, having said that it wasn’t exactly dazzling effort from Knox to compete for the ball.  Next the Williams pick this one was all on Roy; Hanie hit him in stride in the hands and Williams fluffed his lines simple as that. Third pick well was irrelevant really Hanie doesn’t have the arm to throw it 80-yards, and in fact I would have much rather seen Hester field the punt as opposed to putting the Bears offense in that position.

Now that smidge of credit to Martz I’m taking it from him, because yet again we were not far behind the Chiefsand yet again he gave up on the rush. The Bears last rush was Marion Barber 10:06 left in the 4th.  Another thing Kahlil Bell came into the game ripped off 34-yards on four carries and was pulled WTF.

Now this is not like last week an effort in taking the heat off of Hanie, I merely feel there is enough crap about putting nails into the coffin of his career for me to join in, frankly he sucks and the Bears should never had allowed this bullshit notion of I don’t just want to manage games crap that he spouted before he started the raiders game.  No Hanie you’re not going to manage games, the only thing you are currently managing to do is rekindle the same misery I felt when I realised Santa Claus didn’t exist, oh and maybe prove your dead beat ass dose not deserve another contract in the NFL.

Back to Martz as a quick pre-closing comment flourish, I can’t work out this guy, is he a genius, or a fool? I can’t figure it out so help would be appreciated, Tweet me answers please!!!

All in all the Bears are not who I thought they were the currently completely lack a back bone, and I really do find that distressing, I mean Julius Peppers is a stud and the front four played really well but in honesty pretty much all of the rest of this team seems to be sleep walking at the moment and they need something to wake them the hell up.  At least all the other Wildcard contenders turned into massive choke jobs as well, and the one plus to take from the Forte injury for the Bears front office, his season/career/knee flashing through his eyes may make him slightly more willing to sign that contract the Bears offered.

I will shoot myself in the face if Tim Tebow makes the Bears look like idiots this week, he is the type of complete tool that I can imagine waking the Bears from its hibernation.
