Tim Tebow has been one of the most debated names in football. People either defend him to death or hate his guts, but there’s no questioning the results. The Broncos are 7-5 and have won five in a row and six of seven with Tebow under center. Like him or not, the kid is a winner. He has won at every level of his career and until he proves otherwise in the NFL, he’s a winner here too.

Many fans are turned off by some of his religious beliefs. Tebow is well-known for admitting he’s a virgin and saving himself for marriage. He’s not afraid to express his love of the Lord to anyone that will listen. I have no problem with anyone’s religious beliefs. But I do take issue with athletes that use sports as a pulpit to preach. In the case of Tebow, I believe he practices what he preaches, I just don’t think it has a place in sports. I know many of you think I’m saying this because as my name gives away the fact that I am Jewish, but quite honestly, I am sure whatever higher power you believe in has way more important things to do than worry about the results of a football game.

Back to the gridiron. There are some things that impress me with Tebow. He doesn’t turn the football over. Despite a sub-par arm, he has thrown ten touchdowns and only one interception and lost two fumbles. To put this in perspective, Michael Vick in less rushing attempts has three fumbles. For a guy that is a running quarterback, Tebow does not beat himself with mistakes. I am sure some of this is a product of teams not respecting his throwing abilities, but credit goes where it’s due.

I also respect the fact that he seems to be oblivious to the mass amounts of criticism and doubters that surround his game. He seems to use it as motivation and really has taken this in stride. I like the fact that he genuanly seems like a good guy and his teammates have responded to him as well.

I am looking forward to Sunday’s game to see Tebow in action. While I hope the Bears win, I am curious to see him play. Follow me on Twitter at ChicagoBearJew.
