Frankie Creel-US PRESSWIRE

The NFL draft is coming at the end of April and teams are gathering as much info on as many players as possible to make their teams better for the upcoming NFL season.  Here is what I would like to see out of the Chicago Bears come the NFL Draft.  This is will have a trade that I think is more than fair and could happen.

Rd1P19- Nick Perry, DE, USC- Perry is exactly the type of player that the Chicago Bears should be looking for to put on the opposite side of Julius Peppers.  He has good size (6’3″ 275lbs) and speed to get to the QB.  He is also has great strength to play the run on a consistent basis.  Could be a 3 down defensive end which would allow Israel Idonije move all over the defensive line.

*Trade* The Chicago Bears trade Rd2P50 to the Houston Texans for Rd2P58 and Rd4P99.  Reason: Bears: There are plenty of players the Bears could target at #58 and get an extra 4th round pick.  Texans: Houston moves up 8 spots and secure ILB Mychal Kendricks to replace DeMeco Ryans.

Rd2P58 (via HOU)- Dwayne Allen, TE, Clemson- The Bears trade back and still get QB Jay Cutler another weapon in the passing game.  Allen may be the best pass catching TE in the draft with good size (6’4″ 255).  He knows how to use his size when going up to catch the ball.  Needs to work on his run blocking, but can still be a weapon in the passing game.  I also think that Matt Spaeth ends up getting cut.

Rd3P80- Marvin Jones, WR, California- I think Jones is one of the most underrated receivers in this class and could be a very good #3 WR behind Brandon Marshall and Earl Bennett.  At 6’2″ 200 pounds, Jones has the size and with a 4.44 40 time, he has the speed to separate from corners and become a favorite of QB Jay Cutler.

Rd4P99 (via HOU)- Josh Norman, CB, Coastal Carolina- GM Phil Emery follows in his predecessors footsteps and goes after at least one small school prospect.  Norman has good size (6’0″ 200lbs) with decent speed (4.5 40 time).  Played very well during the Senior Bowl week and with the depth the Bears have added at the cornerback position, he could play special teams until he learns the system.

Rd4P111- Brandon Taylor, S, LSU- Taylor is an all around good safety.  He is a big hitter that can play the run very well and is more than adequate in the passing game.  He could step right in and be a starter along with Chris Conte.

Rd5P150- Akiem Hicks, DT, Canada- Hicks is a big nose tackle (6’5″ 320lbs) with a 35 1/8 inch arm length.  Hicks would replace Amobi Okoye who seems all but gone in the defensive tackle rotation.  This move would also allow Stephen Paea to play more of the 3 technique position that he may be better suited for.

Rd6P184- Kevin Koger, TE, Michigan- Koger would prove to be a good pick in the 6th round with his blocking ability.  He has the knack for finding the soft spot in the defense.  Being a big University of Michigan fan I know Koger could have been a better weapon if UM had a better passing game.  But Koger was a great blocker for Denard Robinson.  This is still assuming Spaeth gets cut.  Koger and Allen could give the Bears two young TE to go with Kellen Davis for a good trio for Cutler.

Rd7P221- Ryan Miller, OG, Colorado-  Miller is the exact type of offensive lineman that OC Mike Tice loves for his OL.  Miller is huge at 6’7″ 321 pounds and has the ability to dominate defensive lineman.  But for some reason, he tends to disappear for periods of time.  He needs to work on that to become what most thought he would before the season started.

I think these eight players would give the Bears 4 quality players right away and others that would come along as the season moves along.  Hicks is my sleeper pick to make a big impact on whatever team he is on.  These are subject to change if one of them does something stupid like Orson Charles did a few weeks back.
