Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jordan Shipley will miss the remainder of the 2011 season after suffering a torn ACL in his left knee against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, according to Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer. The injury occurred during the third quarter of Sunday’s 24-22 loss to the Broncos and Shipley will undergo surgery–ending his second season with just four catches for 14 yards.

Shipley was considered somewhat of a steal by many after the Bengals selected the former Texas standout in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft considering the type of impact he made as a rookie wideout in the slot. Shipley may not have received as many looks through the first two games due to the emergence of A.J. Green and Jerome Simpson–but this is still a major blow to a young Cincinnati squad that doesn’t have many weapons to begin with.
