Finally, we get to number one our list. This scandal is currently ongoing and doesn't involve as much athletics as it does morality. The current child abuse scandal involving former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky has saddened an entire nation. The protection of our children should be above all else and it looks like Penn State did nothing to notify authorities of these claims. The athletic director, university president, and another high ranking official have already left office. Legendary coach Joe Paterno is retiring at the end of the year. A grand jury statement reports that all of these men involved knew about allegations that Sandusky was abusing children, but they did not alert the proper authorities. According to the law, they were compliant but in the court of public opinion, they failed the children involved. The claims brought against Sandusky are sickening and it's unbelievable that Penn State did nothing to terminate their relationship with him. Sandusky has been spotted on the campus as recently as last week, which shows a clear lack of oversight. Hopefully justice is served in this case and Sandusky is punished if the allegations are true.
