While professional sports teams in the same city don’t always work their hardest to promote one another, they also don’t go out of their way to troll each other either. There is at least an underlying solidarity among organizations– professional sports is a small world after all.

Apparently, this doesn’t apply in Baltimore.

In the below Facebook photo, posted in very poor taste, the Baltimore Ravens threw their cross-town MLB cohorts, the Baltimore Orioles under the bus, suggesting that their fans would rather be somewhere else than Camden Yards:

Read the caption very carefully. If it’s too small for you to read, I’ll summarize:

From Ravens to Orioles fans:

“Raise your hand if you’d rather be cheering in THIS stadium than a baseball stadium today!”

Whoops.

The Ravens realized their mistake and quickly removed the photo from their Facebook page and even posted an oriole decked out with a Ravens jersey– but at that point, the damage had already been done.

If the Ravens have some sort of bone to pick with the Orioles– which is hard to believe given that the former struggles to earn any attendance while the latter is one of the NFL’s most popular teams– maybe them should air out their dirty laundry behind closed doors rather than on social media.

Tweets, Facebook posts and anything else digital have proven over and over again to be nothing but trouble for pro sports teams.

That lesson should have been learned by now.
