Team USA Sets Olympics Scoring Record Of 156 Points Against Nigeria
Richard Mackson-US PRESSWIRE

Team USA showed that they are by far the best basketball team in the world on Thursday.  They torched Nigeria on their way to numerous records.  Carmelo Anthony set the individual scoring record for the team, they set the USA record for points and they also set the record for most points by any team in the Olympics by dropping 156.

The 2012 Summer Olympics have had some very good basketball action but this game was just insane.  The Team USA players could not miss.  They were draining open shots like it was their job, which makes sense.  The three point shooting finally woke up and poor Nigeria did not stand a chance.

Team USA was not even trying to run the score up.  They were just making the shots that the defense gave them.  This game capped off an awesome day of basketball for Olympics fans.  There were two very close games before this and then Team USA went out there and set records all over the place.  Not exactly a bad day to be a big fan of the game.

This was a great moment for Team USA and it showed how good the team can be when everything clicks.  They were moving the ball, playing great defense, and taking advantage of what Nigeria gave them.

Let’s be clear on this, however.  Nigeria is not exactly a basketball powerhouse.  This was probably one of the easier opponents that they will have to face in the Olympics.  It only gets tougher from here but it looks like Team USA is ready to take out anyone who gets in their way.

The second half of the game was basically alley-oops and three point attempts.  Nigeria could not withstand the onslaught and Team USA took their rightful place in the record books.  Fun to watch at least.
