Since returning to international cricket in 1992, South Africa have yet to reach the final of the World Cup. Always capable, but never reaching the potential. With arguably the best batsman and best team of bowlers this year, it finally seems as if the stars are aligned for South Africa to win the title.

Reason No. 1: AB de Villiers is easily the most-coveted wicket in the tournament. Remember his 31-ball century against West Indies?

Not only does South Africa have the best batsman, but they have quite the set of attacking bowlers with Daley Steyn leading the way as the highest-ranked ODI bowler at the World Cup. His ability to use swing and pace will make him absolutely feared to all batsmen in the tournament. With Steyn will be Morne Morkel and Vernon Philander who will both study the pitch extensively to get the most opportune bounce off it.

Imran Tahir's spin brings a different flavor to this multi-headed attack of South Africa. Tahir averages in ODI cricket 20 and yeilds runs at 4.39 per over.

Most importantly, the 15-man team includes eight players with previous World Cup experiences: De Villiers, Amla, Faf du Plessis, JP Duminy, Wayne Parnell, Morne Morkel, Dale Steyn and Imran Tahir.
