The Colorado Avalanche’s win this weekend over the Dallas Stars ended a three game losing streak that included just one point from an overtime loss. The Avalanche cannot afford many more weeks where they win only one game and have such horrible losses.

The St. Louis loss and the first Nashville loss were horrible exhibitions on the road. The Avalanche had no energy in those games and were out of both quickly. The second Nashville game, the Avalanche flew through the first period only to stumble and lose the game in overtime after leading 2-0.

The Dallas Stars game was a build up of the team’s confidence. The Avalanche played a complete game, led by an inspiring effort by goalie J.S. Giguere in net. The Avalanche got goals from Paul Statsny and David Jones, both players that need to perform if the Avalanche are going to compete.

Peter Mueller also looks to be back in form. He played on a line with Daniel Winnik, centered by T.J. Galiardi. Peter Mueller has seven shots in two games and has been close to scoring a number of times. Once Matt Duchene is back, their former chemistry could help propel this team into the playoffs.

Look for the Avalanche to try and gain momentum this afternoon against Phoenix and Wednesday against the Florida Panthers. The Avalanache currently sit one point out of the playoffs but have played the maximum number of games currently, with another one coming today.
