Did Kevin Love Almost Become A Laker?
The 2011 offseason for the NBA was quick but less than easy. We all saw David Stern deny a trade because whiny small market owners didn’t like it. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, I am referring to the Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Lakers deal that also included the Houston Rockets sending Kevin Martin to New Orleans. The veto was ridiculous at the moment but Paul would eventually find a home in Los Angeles but with the Clippers.
According to Peter Vecsey of the New York Post, some inside sources within the NBA said that the Lakers were on the verge of trading forward Pau Gasol for Minnesota Timberwolves’ big man Kevin Love. Not quite sure what stopped this trade but I would imagine it was stopped because Love has tremendous upside while Gasol is getting older and with that his skills start to diminish.
Imagine what the Lakers lineup would be like if Love came to Los Angeles.
Fisher, PG
Bryant, SG
Bynum, PF
World Peace, SF
Love, C
That almost looks like a team that could bring you a title and with Love possibly putting up 30 points and grabbing 20 boards, he could have possibly made himself to be the next Shaquille O’Neal in L.A.
However, this is all speculation but what would you think of Kevin Love coming to the Lakers?

Lol. It’s obvious why the trade didn’t go through. Love is drastically better than Gasol and younger. Would of been the worst trade ever for the wolves.
Lakers reportedly offered this trade….it however was not close to happening. I dont know if the Timberwolves would trade Love for Kobe at this point much less Gasol. Love is 23 and just dominating games right now.
