Kwame Brown Taking Credit For Molding Andrew Bynum?

You can probably say the Kwame Brown was one of the worst number one picks let alone one of the worst draft picks of all-time. He was also the first pick of the Michael Jordan’s executive career. Brown’s first outrageous quote in his tenure in the NBA was to then head coach Doug Collins, “If you draft me, you’ll never regret it.”

Since then Brown has bounced around from team to team. His 11-year career has been spent with the Wizards, Lakers, Grizzlies, Pistons, Bobcats and currently the Warriors. He has averaged 6.8 points and 5.6 rebounds in his career, so why is he taking credit for building center Andrew Bynum while Brown was in Los Angeles?

Brown told the Sacramento Bee:

“That was my young fella,” Brown said. “I taught him everything he knows. I’m one of the better defenders in the league and we played against each other every day in practice,” Brown said. “I told him if you can score against me, you can score on anyone.”

Brown is only 29 so he can not be that delusional, can he?

That has remained to be seen. Bynum did however respond to Brown saying that they were buddies but nothing more than car talk and the occasional bowling trip was beyond their friendship.

  1. Steven Resnick says:

I would have to agree with Brown especially after watching him play this season.Just because Brown has had a superstar career doesn’t mean that the two didn’t battle in practice. Oh and Brown forced Bynum into a 3-9 shooting performance in their most recent match-up.

    • Ryan Gaydos says:

You are the Warriors expert, Steven. He may have helped with Bynum since Brown are nearly the same height and about the same body size..

      • Steven Resnick says:

What I would say Brown is definitely physical from what I’ve seen. Didn’t really follow him much when he was with the Lakers, yet it wouldn’t be surprising like you said they are around the same height and body size. Wouldn’t be shocking if Brown wasn’t a factor in his development of course there’s no question who’s more talented.
