Los Angeles Lakers Officials Attend Gilbert Areans’ Workout; Impressed With What They See
Jason O. Watson-US PRESSWIRE

There has been much speculation over the last few days as to whether or not the Lakers were going to attend Gilbert Arenas’ private workout that was held in Los Angeles on Sunday. According to a report by Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski Lakers officials did in fact attend Arenas’ private workout in Los Angeles this afternoon. The report added that, Two sources familiar with the workout said Arenas moved well and made a positive impression, but there was no sense on how quickly – if at all – the Lakers would pursue signing him to a free-agent contract.

Arenas, who is now 30 years old, was let go by the Magic this off-season and has tried to work his way back ontoan NBA team ever since. The Lakers seem like the front-runner right now, especially with the recent approval of Kobe Bryant. Also in the report was this piece of information, “The Lakers’ coaching staff didn’t attend the workout, but coach Mike Brown and star Kobe Bryant have been proponents of giving Arenas a chance to help the team. Los Angeles’ backcourt, including veterans Derek Fisher, Steve Blake – and two rookies – has been a source of frustration and has had team officials investigating the market for potential additions.”

Arenas shot career lows in field goal and three point percentage last season and seemed to had lost his lift, similar to what Kobe Bryant was undergoing last season when a lot of his shots were flat. But during the off-season Arenas underwent platelet-rich plasma therapy on his right knee in New York. The procedure is similar to what Bryant had done in Germany this Summer and it seemed to do the trick. Bryant has more lift on his shot this season and is currently leading the league in scoring with 29.4 points per game.
