Miami Heat Trying To Change Most Hated Team View
Steve Mitchell-US PRESSWIRE

Think back just under two years ago, when LeBron James made his decision to take his talents to South Beach. Instantly, the Miami Heat became the most hated in the NBA. Not only had James turned down more money from the  Cleveland Cavaliers, he left owner Dan Gilbert in the dark until the press conference.

Many fans were happy that the Miami Heat struggled early on until they finally put things together and made it all the way to the NBA Finals, before losing to the Dallas Mavericks. Fast forward one year, and the Miami Heat are trying hard to change that aura about them.

Many know the story of Trayvon Martin and his unfortunate death. Less know how the Heat posed for this picture about a week ago. Just yesterday, the Miami Heat hosted Thiago D’Elia who is currently battling cancer, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation reached out to the Heat for D’Elia asking if he could partake in an event.

D’Elia got more than he could have ever bargained for, participating in practice yesterday while also having front row seats for today’s game against the Detroit Pistions. He got to hang out with favorite player, LeBron James, and the rest of the team.

The Heat may still be the most hated team in the NBA, but they are making it hard to not like them after their latest events. I am not saying Heat did this as a publicity stunt, but this sure has to help with the fans.

I understand people are still going to dislike teams because of what happened, but perhaps it is time to start moving on. James made his decision, everybody reacted, and now it is time to forgive and move on. The Heat are doing great work in the Miami area, and people should focus on that, not what childish act two years ago.
