The Jacksonville Jaguars fired head coach Jack Del Rio early Tuesday morning and announced the team is for sale. That doesn’t affect the Dallas Cowboys immediately, but might in the future. Sources close to the team say the Jaguars will pursue Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan as their next head coach.

In his first season with Dallas, Ryan is getting the most out of his players. The Cowboys’ defense was a bottom-of-the-barrel unit in 2010, ranking near the bottom of the NFL in yards and points allowed. This year, Dallas’ defense is a top 10 unit.

Ryan has said on record more than once he will be a successful NFL head coach. However, the Cowboys didn’t plan on bringing him in for just one season. Ryan hasn’t spoken on the matter and nothing has been confirmed, but Jacksonville apparently likes what he has done in Dallas.
