According to a report by ESPNDallas.com writer Calvin Watkins, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said that the biggest difference between the Cowboys and the Giants is the play of the quarterback.

Jones did go on to offer praise for Romo. But he really couldn’t have made the message any clearer.

Despite the incredible difference in the Giants and Cowboys’ pass rush, as well as coaching, Jones chose to blame Romo for the Cowboys’ failures over the past few seasons.

You could even stretch Jones’s comments and say that he thinks that his Cowboys, who finished 8-8 and missed out on the postseason because of a loss in the season finale against the Giants, would be in the Super Bowl had Eli Manning been their quarterback instead of Tony Romo.

This season, Romo started all 16 games and threw for 31 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions. His 102.5 passer rating is the best mark of his career.

But he failed to lead the Cowboys into the postseason for the second straight season. For the second time in the last four seasons, his Cowboys were eliminated in the regular season finale in a winner-take-all game.

Romo has a 1-3 postseason record and is 0-2 in winner-take-all season finales, meaning he has a 1-5 record in the six biggest games of his six-year NFL career as the Cowboys’ starting quarterback.

Eli Manning actually posted worse regular season statistics than Romo this season. He did throw for 4933 yards and 29 touchdowns but his 16 interceptions kept his passer rating at 92.9, almost 10 points lower than Romo.

But Eli led the Giants to a pair of victories in the season’s last two games, one against the Jets, and one against Romo’s Cowboys, to send the Giants into the postseason for the fifth time in his seven full seasons as the starting quarterback.

He has led the Giants into the Super Bowl for the second time in five seasons, behind an improbable run that has included consecutive road victories over dominant NFC teams (Green Bay and San Francisco). He has a 7-3 career postseason record, including a Super Bowl ring (and possibly a second). He is also 1-0 in do-or-die season finales, giving him an 8-3 record in the 11 biggest games of his career.

Yeah, I’d say that’s a significant difference when compared to Tony Romo.

jerry jones blaming romo is the most rediculous shit i ever heard , get all the dam jones out of the talent evaluation, drafting, and coaching and let someone who knows what talent is take over, shut rob ryan,s stupid mouth.tell jason garret to leave the play calling to a real cordinator–he wasn,t good at it when thats all he had to do.romo is along way from being eli manning caliber, but who would you bring in to replace him? the defense sucks offensive line sucks especially free, smith is barely above average, the rest should be cut right now. how long does it take to rebuild by the jones??????

  2. John Clary says:

I couldn’t agree more, Dennis. I’m a lifelong Cowboys’ fan. They will never win w/Romo at QB, Garrett as head coach and Ryan as DC. I don’t hink they will ever win again as long as JJ continues to own the team and attempts be something he isn’t – a football guy.

  3. vic wightman says:

Jerry replaced Al Davis as the worst general manager of all time. He has drug a once proud franchise through 16 years of humiliation because of hia arrogance. Last year when the SB was in Dallas he should have made the team park cars, cause thats as close as they will get with Jerry at the helm. Opps couldn’t do that either because Dez Bryant’s possee would have been boosting stereos. We are screwed!!!!

  4. Truth says:

This is blatant inaccurate garbage from whoever the author is. He’s misrepresented Jones to generate his own moronic opinion. And, before anyone thinks there’s even a sliver of truth to his accusations, simply go to the Cowboy’s website and verify it for yourself. Ironically, Jones blamed everyone but Romo…especially the OL and DB’s. I don’t know how or why anyone concerned with their reputation would write something like this…but I won’t be taking this author or site serious from now on. SMH.
