DeSoto Police Will Pursue Charges Against Dez Bryant
DeSoto Police department will pursue charges against Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant.
In what seems to be the next installment of the Dez Bryant saga, the DeSoto Police Department and District Attorney’s Office will go forth with the misdemeanor family violence charge against the troubled receiver.
This comes on the heels of Bryant’s mother filing an affidavit of non-prosecution, which ended all pursuit of charges against her son, by her.
However, the DeSoto Police Department and DA’s Office are pursuing the charges against Bryant because according to police, Angela Bryant had bruising and swelling on her arms, making it evident that an altercation had occurred.
Bryant’s mother, they say had a couple of days to cool off and still decided to go forth and file these charges against her son. So, it’s no longer an “in the heat of the moment” incident, but rather a planned decision.
Then, in a sudden change of events, Bryant’s mother withdrew the charges and said nothing happened, nothing according to the statement released by Bryant’s attorney, Royce West.
I’m not a law major, advisor or any of that, but it’s unlikely that the DeSoto Police Department have a case against Dez Bryant without the cooperation of his mother right?
The court however, can file a subpoena to have Bryant’s mother come in and take the stand.
First and foremost I can’t really understand why the DeSoto Police department would waste man-hours and money to pursue these charges against Bryant after his mother dropped the charges and his attorney and mother said nothing happened, besides one of two reasons.
The first reason is, the police department thinks that, more than what is being reported actually happened. Meaning, they believe that Bryant actually put hands on his mother and if he’s done it once, they want to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
The second reason, the police department is seeking the notoriety of prosecuting a high profile person.
What was thought to be over, seems to be only beginning for the Dez Bryant and he still has to deal with the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell.
