This week’s waiver wire will showcase a new format by trying to include players for deeper leagues as well. Free agency only gets more important as the year goes on, so don’t be afraid to take some chances while the season is still young.

Smaller Leagues – 6-10 man leagues

C Mikko Koivu, MIN – Koivu has been the most impressive player in the league since the middle of last month.  The center has totaled 28 points in a meager 32 games, becoming a free agent gold mine in smaller leagues.

LW Nick Foligno, OTT – “Foly” has 19 points in the young season, but has drawn attention for his vicious hit on Vancouver’s Ryan Kessler.

RW Bryan Little, WPG – Little is having a career season with an incredible 15 points in his last fourteen games.  He is one of the only fantasy contributors in Winnipeg and has the ability to take all the shots he wants in the lackluster offense.

D Michael Del Zotto, NYR – “Zorro” was added in thousands of leagues this past week because he is getting much more ice time in recent weeks and has amassed 8 points in the last nine games.

G Ray Emery, CHI – Emery has been on fire this winter with a 4-0 record in December.  He is getting more and more starts as Corey Crawford struggles and will be a strong contributor for the next month or two.

Larger Leagues – 10-14 man leagues

C T.J. Oshie, STL – Oshie may be a bit inconsistent, but he still knows how to put the puck in the back of the net.  He has 9 goals on the young season, including two games with 2 goals.

LW Jason Chimera, WAS – As of late, the veteran has been playing strong and already has 3 points in December.

RW Jordin Tootoo, NSH – The winger has been more involved in the Predators’ offense with 10 points in the last ten games.  Nashville’s offense is really clicking with 17 goals in the last five games, only giving Tootoo more chances to fill the stat sheet.

D James Wisniewski, CLS – The defenseman has a staggering 6 points in the month of December and has been a great source of assists from behind the blue-line.

G Tuukka Rask, BOS – Rask has filled in amazingly for Tim Thomas with a 6-4-1 record, but more impressive is his 93.9 % save percentage.
