With the 2014 MLB season underway, there are certain starting pitchers who started the season looking to make a statement. While many top pitchers have struggled to start the year, there have been just as many who have gotten off to a scorching start.

Let's take a look at the top 20 starting pitchers so far in 2014. I know it's just over two weeks into the season, but these guys should be added by all fantasy owners.

Honorable Mention: Max Scherzer, Detroit Tigers

Max Scherzer is the reigning Cy Young winner which is the only reason he's an honorable mention on this list -- that and his high number of strikeouts. If it weren't for his lack of run support, he'd be much higher.

2014 stats: 0-1, 2.70 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 25 SO (20.0 innings)

20. Zach Britton, Baltimore Orioles

The Orioles are my dark-horse favorite to win the AL East, but the pitching staff needs to step up. Britton is doing his part to make sure Baltimore remains in the hunt for first place.

2014 stats: 2-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.71 WHIP, 7 SO (11.1 innings)

19. Aaron Harang, Atlanta Braves

Aaron Harang has been in the league for over 10 years, but he's on pace to have his best season as a major leaguer.

2014 stats: 2-1, 0.96 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, 17 SO (18.2 innings)

18. Michael Pineda, New York Yankees

Besides the whole pine tar incident, Michael Pineda has had a brilliant start to his 2014 season. The 25-year-old Dominican-born titled-hat wearing starter has been dominant thus far, earning him a spot on many fantasy teams -- even though he may not have even been considered on fantasy draft day.

2014 stats: 2-1, 1.00 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, 15 SO (18.0 innings)

17. Yovani Gallardo, Milwaukee Brewers

Yovani Gallardo seems to be helping the Brewers keep their first place standing in the NL Central. The 28-year-old pitcher has been a very pleasant surprise in his first three starts this season.

2014 stats: 2-0, 0.96 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, 13 SO (18.2 innings)

16. Jeff Samardzija, Chicago Cubs

Jeff Samardzija is usually a strikeout machine, but that part of his game has been pretty average so far this season -- under his standards. He is, however, keeping his ERA down even though the lack of run support that haunted him last year is starting to haunt him yet again.

2014 stats: 0-1, 1.29 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 15 SO (21.0 innings)

15. Scott Kazmir, Oakland Athletics

Scott Kazmir hasn't quite had a solid season since 2008 with the Tampa Bay Rays, but the 30-year-old starter is off to the best start of his career. It may be too early to buy into his success -- especially since he is day-to-day with a nagging injury.

2014 stats: 2-0, 1.40 ERA, 0.78 WHIP, 19 SO (19.1 innings)

14. Michael Wacha, St. Louis Cardinals

Michael Wacha was a star in the MLB playoffs last season and he has carried that stardom over into this season. Is it just me, or do the Cardinals always have top-notch pitching?

2014 stats: 2-0, 1.89 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, 18 SO (19.0 innings)

13. Zack Greinke, Los Angeles Dodgers

Filling in for the injured Clayton Kershaw, starter Zack Greinke has accounted for a third of the Dodgers' wins this season already. Sitting just a game out of first place in the NL West, Los Angeles is in good shape even without their ace -- I guess Greinke can be a fill-in ace.

2014 stats: 3-0, 2.76 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 21 SO (16.1 innings)

12. Chris Sale, Chicago White Sox

Quickly becoming one of the best pitchers in the loaded American League, Chris Sale is dominating batters even with his slight size. Don't let his slim build fool you, this guy is a killer on the mound.

2014 stats: 3-0, 2.66 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, 19 SO (20.1 innings)

11. Scott Feldman, Houston Astros

Who would have thought that Scott Feldman would be putting up any sort of fight in the AL West this season? The Houston Astros seemed sorry in their own right, but Feldman is holding his own, becoming the team's solid ace.

2014 stats: 2-0, 0.44 ERA, 0.73 WHIP, 7 SO (20.2 innings)

10. Chris Tillman, Baltimore Orioles

Chris Tillman is the second Orioles pitcher on this list and even though Zach Britton has been stellar, this guy has been even better. Fantasy owners, take notice of Tillman because he is a must-start.

2014 stats: 1-1, 0.84 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, 15 SO (21.1 innings)

9. Ervin Santana, Atlanta Braves

Ervin Santana was a hot commodity on the free agent market this offseason and he has been a hot commodity on the fantasy free agent market this season thus far.

2014 stats: 1-0, 0.64 ERA, 0.64 WHIP, 17 SO (14.0 innings)

8. Sonny Gray, Oakland Athletics

Sonny Gray is another one of the league's best young players. The Athletics have been one of the best pitching teams in baseball for a while and Sonny Gray is just another name on the list.

2014 stats: 2-0, 0.95 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 19 SO (19.0 innings)

7. Mark Buehrle, Toronto Blue Jays

Not many people gave Mark Buehrle a chance in the 2014 season after a mediocre 2013 campaign with the Blue Jays. Well, he has silenced those critics after just a few starts.

2014 stats: 3-0, 0.86 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, 16 SO (21.0 innings)

6. Jose Fernandez, Miami Marlins

Just his second year in the majors, Jose Fernandez was thought to be a Cy Young candidate before the 2014 season even began. I would not be shocked if this Marlins team was playoff-bound in a few years with Giancarlo Stanton and Fernandez as the building blocks.

2014 stats: 2-1, 2.66 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 33 SO (23.2 innings)

5. Masahiro Tanaka, New York Yankees

Coming over from Japan, no one knew what to think of first-year pitcher Masahiro Tanaka. Well, an expensive plane flight and millions of dollars in contract money later, Tanaka is dominating MLB.

2014 stats: 2-0, 2.05 ERA, 0.77 WHIP, 28 SO (22.0 innings)

4. Andrew Cashner, San Diego Padres

I will admit this, I didn't have Andrew Cashner anywhere near my radar to begin the 2014 season. I knew he was good, but I had no idea the former Chicago Cubs starter was quite this good.

2014 stats: 2-1, 1.27 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, 27 SO (28.1 innings)

3. Yu Darvish, Texas Rangers

As one of my favorites to contend for the AL Cy Young this season, Yu Darvish has done nothing but prove me right through two weeks of play. The young flamethrower has been darn near perfect this season, dominating batters and racking up strikeouts -- per usual.

2014 stats: 1-0, 0.82 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, 23 SO (22.0 innings)

2. Johnny Cueto, Cincinnati Reds

Johnny Cueto has to be an ace in every single league he's in right now. If it weren't for his 1-2 record this season -- due to a lack of run support -- he might be No. 1 overall on this list. If you don't have Cueto and your pitching is struggling, make the trade for him.

2014 stats: 1-2, 1.50 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, 35 SO (30.0 innings)

1. Felix Hernandez, Seattle Mariners

King Felix has been good for a long, long time, so this choice at No. 1 is no surprise. If you're a fantasy owner who had the chance to draft Felix and you didn't, consider yourself foolish. There's a good chance he will contend for the Cy Young and he has a bit more run support this year than he usually does -- watch out.

2014 stats: 3-0, 1.91 ERA, 0.74 WHIP, 39 SO (28.1 innings)
