Every fantasy season there are a handful of players that get off to unbelievable starts. Unfortunately, not all of them can last. To help you recognize the trend, here are five players who have seen their fantasy value completely disappear since the beginning of the 2014 fantasy season.

5. SP Francisco Liriano, Pittsburgh Pirates

Liriano was a hot waiver wire addition a couple weeks ago, but the veteran has been an albatross lately. The southpaw has allowed three earned runs or more in five of his last six games, while his ERA has skyrocketed up to 4.64 ERA. He may have once been a valuable option, but his fantasy value has all but disappeared.

4. RP Jonathan Broxton, Cincinnati Reds

With the return of Aroldis Chapman this week, Broxton has once again be relegated to a setup man. Broxton won’t be racking up saves anytime soon, and as a result, the veteran will be a worthless fantasy option from here on out.

3. 1B Chris Colabello, Minnesota Twins

After starting the 2014 season with a .414 batting average and 14 RBIs through the first seven games, Colabello has hit a real slump. The first baseman is hitting an embarrassing .156 this month and he has driven in just three runs. Colabello is no longer the full-time fantasy starter that he was last month.

2. 3B Trevor Plouffe, Minnesota Twins

Plouffe racked up 18 RBIs through the first 24 games and was a superstar pickup at the hot corner. Since the beginning of May, though, Plouffe has racked up just three RBIs and has seen his batting average drop from .304 all the way down to .239. He has been hitless over the last five games (0-20) and has also truck out 39 times through 35 games. Plouffe's fantasy value is falling with each passing day.

1. SP Alex Wood, Atlanta Braves

After a sensational start to the 2014 season, Wood has been relegated to the bullpen. The team is looking to limit his pitch count, not to mention make way room for Aaron Harang and Gavin Floyd. Wood will likely be moved back into the rotation by the time the All-Star break comes around, but for now fantasy fans will have to remain patient with the southpaw.
