Buffalo Bills tight end Scott Chandler‘s name isn’t one that you hear too often when discussing good tight ends in fantasy football. Maybe it’s the fact that he plays for a team that doesn’t get as much respect around the NFL like they used to, but whatever the reason is, individually Chandler is an exciting player to watch. I’m not going so far as to say that Chandler is a sure fire fantasy stud that owners should be drooling over, but he is the type of player that can come in handy if the top quality options are already off the board or a fantasy owners wants to add quality depth to their tight end position.
Chandler has been ranked in the top-20 tight ends the past two years. While the Bills’ offense is still a work in progress, if E.J. Manuel can improve upon his rookie season, then Chandler has a chance to sneak back into the top-20 tight ends again. If Manuel struggles and the offense has issues moving the chains, then the veteran tight end should expect to finish just outside the top-20.
The fact of the matter is, Chandler is a player with decent hands and has a great physical make up to fight through for extra yardage and make himself big when in the red zone. In years past, he was a reliable red zone target, however, he saw a drop in his touchdown count when he dealt with inconsistent quarterback play last season. If the hulking tight end can find the end zone a little bit more this season, he can be seen as a solid TE-2 option for fantasy owners.
