2014 Fantasy Football: Top 5 QB Sleepers After Preseason Week 2

Finding bargains is huge in fantasy football. Any time you can identify a player who is being undervalued by the masses, it allows you to make the savvy choice much later in the draft than the players' skill suggests, and you can make other moves prior. Oftentimes the difference between the eighth and 14th round QBs is minimal despite the prevailing thought that suggests otherwise.

Here's a look at the top five QB sleepers currently.

Josh McCown heads into the 2014 season with one of the most underrated offenses in the NFL. Vincent Jackson and rookie Mike Evans make for a devastating WR combo, and Tim Wright and the rookie Austin Seferian-Jenkins are solid at TE. With Doug Martin back at RB in 2014, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going to surprise, led by McCown. He's a bargain in the 14th round.

Ryan Tannehill passed for almost 4,000 yards in 2013 (3,913) which is solid, and he threw 24 TDs in what was just his sophomore campaign. Miami doesn't have a ton of standout players at the skills positions, but TE Charles Clay and WR Mike Wallace fly somewhat under the radar considering what they are capable of. Tannehill will not overwhelm, but in the 14th round he provides tremendous value. He is also an ideal target in two QB leagues.

Carson Palmer quietly threw for 4,274 yards and 24 TDs during the 2013 campaign. WR Michael Floyd is a draft season darling thus far and Larry Fitzgerald is still in Arizona, giving Palmer two projected big time receivers. If RB Andre Ellington indeed has the breakout season many think he will, it will loosen up coverage for the Cardinals' route runners, further increasing Palmer's statistics in 2014. He's a steal at the end of the 12th round.

2. Andy Dalton

Now that Andy Dalton's future with the Cincinnati Bengals is settled after signing a huge extension, his focus is completely on the field. Dalton had his first 4,000 plus yard season in 2013 (4,293) and threw for a career high 33 TDs. I'm not sold on the Bengals' skills players after AJ Green, but they have enough offense for Dalton to take another step forward statistically in 2014. He is a better fantasy option than his 11th round ADP suggests.

Phillip Rivers was stellar in 2013 with 4,478 yards and 32 TDs to just 11 INTs. He finished the season with the highest completion percentage of any QB (69.5) and led San Diego to a surprise playoff berth. With WR Keenan Allen developing into one of the NFL's best receivers, and the Chargers' dual threat at tight end in Ladarius Green and Antonio Gates, Rivers should push for 5,000 yards passing. Rivers will easily obliterate his ninth round ADP.
